[Asia Economy Reporter Seulgina Cho] KT is entering the tourist city of Busan with hotel-exclusive AI solutions such as AI hotel robots, AI serving robots, and AI hotels.
On the afternoon of the 7th, KT held a demonstration event of hotel-exclusive AI solutions for hotel industry officials in the Busanjin District of Busan at the eSports Arena, Busan Metropolitan City, the company announced on the 8th. This comes as interest in contactless services has increased in the hotel industry due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, leading to the expansion of various unmanned services using robots.
At the event, KT showcased a scenario where guests order room supplies such as water or towels via voice or touchscreen on a hotel-exclusive terminal, and an AI hotel robot delivers them to the designated location. Additionally, AI serving robots, barista robots, and disinfection robots that enable contactless service provision in various hotel spaces were introduced.
The AI serving robot is equipped with cutting-edge software developed by KT Convergence Technology Institute, including 3D spatial mapping and autonomous driving technology, allowing it to freely navigate narrow passages between tables and flexibly avoid obstacles to reach its destination.
Jinwoo Lee, Executive Vice President and Head of KT Busan·Gyeongnam Regional Headquarters, said, “Due to COVID-19, there have been many inquiries about contactless services from the hotel industry in the Busan area, so we held this demonstration event. We hope KT’s AI hotel and AI robot services will elevate the value of hotels beyond simple contactless services.”
Meanwhile, KT AI Hotel, the only hotel-exclusive AI service in Korea, currently provides services to a total of 42 hotels with over 8,000 rooms, including hotels in the Busan·Gyeongnam area such as Best Louis Hamilton, Baymond Hotel, and The Ban Hotel, based on contracts signed this month.
