SKB Subsidiary MediaS Launches Comprehensive Entertainment Channel 'Channel S' and Local Specialty 'Channel S Dongne Bangne' on the 8th
[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] Media S, a subsidiary of SK Broadband, announced that starting from the 8th, it will begin regular broadcasting of two channels: the comprehensive entertainment channel ‘Channel S’ and the regional specialty channel ‘Channel S Dongne Bangne.’ Channel S plans to build a differentiated channel by programming 70% of its content as exclusive content.
Media S intends to discover exclusive content through partnerships and investments. It has formed a content business partnership with Kakao Entertainment and will air KakaoTV original content on Channel S. It also plans to showcase various content through collaborations with Wave, which has declared a content investment of 1 trillion won, and SK Telecom.
Additionally, Media S will collaborate with SM C&C to produce original content that is differentiated from existing variety shows. To discover diverse content and promote mutual growth, it is also planning co-productions with specialized small and medium-sized PPs, aiming to expand the content market share and contribute to a virtuous cycle in the industry.
On the launch day, the 8th, the program ‘Japdongsan,’ featuring Kang Ho-dong and children, will be aired, followed by ‘With Gods’ led by Shin Dong-yup on the 9th. Both programs are co-produced with SM C&C. Moreover, popular KakaoTV content such as ‘Next Door to a Restaurant,’ ‘Ants Are Still Busy Today,’ ‘Jjin Kyung-gyu,’ and ‘Son-in-Law’ will be aired exclusively on the pay TV channel Channel S.
Channel S Dongne Bangne is composed of content containing diverse regional information. It is expected to serve as a channel to spread content nationwide by highlighting the ‘value of neighborhoods’ while preserving regional characteristics. SK Broadband plans to solidify the value chain of its media business connecting content, channels, and platforms through the launch of Channel S and Channel S Dongne Bangne.

We will maximize synergy by expanding the distribution channels of original content through real-time broadcast channels and B tv.”
Channel S can be viewed on B tv channel 1 (U+tv channel 62, olleh tv channel 173). Channel S Dongne Bangne is available on both B tv and B tv Cable. Meanwhile, Media S will hold various events in line with the launch schedule. Customers participating in promotions such as ‘Find the S!,’ ‘Guess the Channel Name,’ ‘Comment on YouTube Clips,’ and ‘Watch Live’ will receive prizes.
