Opening of the Elevator Observatory at Bulamsan, Nowon-gu Bulamsan Elevator Observatory

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Nowon-gu (District Mayor Oh Seung-rok) will complete and open an elevator observatory for the mobility-impaired, including people with disabilities, on Bulamsan Mountain on the 10th.

The observatory, located behind Nowon Driving School in Junggye-dong within Bulamsan Healing Town, is a remodeled facility with an added elevator to the existing observatory, designed so that the elderly, disabled, and other mobility-impaired individuals can also ascend and enjoy the surrounding scenery together.

Until now, the circular walking trail around the observatory has been a barrier-free forest path accessible to electric wheelchairs and strollers, frequently used by mobility-impaired visitors, but there was great regret as they could not access the observatory itself.

The observatory, with a total floor area of 143.57㎡ and a height of 10 meters, is designed to be accessible from three directions, including a 15-passenger elevator and gently curved staircases on both sides.

In particular, the top observation floor is designed in the shape of a butterfly flapping its wings, themed as a ‘forest cultural and artistic playground.’ The spacious and relaxed area and the elegant curved design harmonize naturally with the surrounding forest.

The view from the observatory is also exceptional. By raising the height by more than 2 meters compared to the previous observatory, visitors can overlook Seoul’s famous mountains such as Suraksan, Dobongsan, Bukhansan, and every corner of Nowon-gu.

Meanwhile, Bulamsan Healing Town features ▲ the ‘Butterfly Garden and Ecology Learning Center,’ where visitors can observe live butterflies 365 days a year, ▲ a greenhouse caf?, companion plant hospital, and a ‘Garden Support Center’ equipped with a children’s hinoki cypress pool, ▲ the ‘Azalea Hill’ dyed red with 100,000 azalea bushes in April and May, ▲ the ‘Forest Healing Center’ where visitors can experience foot baths, tea therapy, and five-sense healing rooms, and ▲ the ‘Children’s Forest Playground’ for kids, attracting continuous visits from residents.

Especially, the Garden Support Center, which opened this February, has already gained popularity through word of mouth.

It offers ▲ the ‘Garden School’ to help beginners easily start home gardening, ▲ the ‘Companion Plant Hospital’ where visitors can receive advice on plant care, plant therapy, and personalized plant recommendations, ▲ the ‘Garden Library’ collecting various garden-related information, and ▲ the children’s play area filled with eco-friendly hinoki cubes called the ‘Children’s Hinoki Pool.’

Additionally, the caf? ‘4rest’ and outdoor terrace operate as resting spaces for residents visiting the Healing Town.

The opening ceremony for the Nowon Garden Support Center and the observatory is scheduled to be held at 2 p.m. on the 10th at the Healing Garden of the Garden Support Center.

District Mayor Oh Seung-rok said, “With the completion of this elevator observatory, I hope Bulamsan Healing Town will be reborn as a space of rest and healing without discrimination for all residents.”
