[Asia Economy Reporter Gong Byung-sun] As COVID-19 cases have been continuously reported in the Busan area recently, the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education has issued an emergency quarantine directive.
On the 7th, the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education urgently instructed educational administrative institutions in the Busan area to strictly comply with quarantine rules.
With the possibility of a fourth wave of COVID-19 increasing, confirmed cases have been continuously reported in schools of all levels and educational administrative institutions in Busan, prompting this measure. On the 6th, one confirmed case was reported at a certain education support office in Busan, and four confirmed cases (including one public service worker) were reported on the same day. Among those confirmed were one kindergartener, one elementary school student, one middle school student, one high school student, and three elementary school staff members.
The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education asked the metropolitan office, five education support offices, and 19 directly affiliated institutions to strictly adhere to quarantine rules for each institution, thoroughly disinfect office buildings, and ensure no external visitors enter the premises. It also strictly instructed to refrain from face-to-face meetings, business trips, and gatherings after work as much as possible until COVID-19 subsides, and guided that if any family member shows suspicious symptoms, immediate telecommuting should be implemented.
To prepare for any emergency, it instructed each institution and department to organize emergency work teams and have essential personnel work in rotating telecommuting shifts to be available in case of emergency.
Superintendent Kim Seok-jun said, “Considering the recent spread of COVID-19, the situation is serious,” and added, “I ask educational administrative institutions supporting school sites to take the lead in strictly complying with quarantine rules.”
