[Asia Economy Online Issue Team] Broadcaster Ham So-won recently dodged giving a specific explanation regarding the manipulation controversy that has arisen.
On the 4th, Ham So-won promoted products she sells through an Instagram live broadcast.
At that time, some netizens requested her to clarify the recent manipulation allegations related to TV Chosun's The Taste of Wife (hereafter referred to as The Taste of Wife), but Ham So-won did not respond.
Then, a netizen mentioned suspicions that Ham So-won's former Chinese boyfriend, whom she had previously described as a second-generation chaebol, was not a real person. In response, Ham So-won firmly stated, "It is not worth explaining."
When a netizen who identified as a reporter asked, "Are you saying that the reports so far are fake news?" Ham So-won replied, "I never said all of it was fake news," and did not disclose any further stance on the manipulation allegations.
As netizens continued to demand a clear answer regarding the manipulation allegations, Ham So-won referred to a comment from a netizen saying, "What explanation do you want? Maybe you are experiencing Samjae these days," and said, "It seems that I really am experiencing Samjae."
She also said, "Lately, I have been struggling because of anti-fans and strange articles, but at times like this, I am grateful to my fans. If this had not happened, our fans might not have been able to unite like this," and added, "I will watch over my fans who always support me."
Previously, Ham So-won was embroiled in manipulation allegations related to the show The Taste of Wife. Controversies arose one after another, such as suspicions that the Harbin villa of her in-laws shown on the broadcast was actually an Airbnb (lodging sharing service), and suspicions that the youngest sibling who spoke with her mother-in-law was a stand-in for Ham So-won.
Subsequently, Ham So-won voluntarily withdrew from the program. Additionally, there are manipulation theories that the former Chinese boyfriend, a second-generation chaebol whom Ham So-won dated in the past, is not a real person.
Meanwhile, Ham So-won married Jin Hua, who is 18 years her junior, in 2018, and they have a daughter named Hye-jeong.
