Introducing Items Like Bags and Pencil Cases Made from Decommissioned Firefighting Equipment
50% of Sales Proceeds Donated to Firefighters Denied Work-Related Injury Benefits
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Shin Dong-ho] Gwangju Shinsegae Co., Ltd. (CEO Lee Dong-hoon) announced on the 5th that it will hold a CSR event for the 26th anniversary of its local Gwangju corporation at the event hall on the 1st floor of the main building, featuring the social enterprise ‘119REO’.
The social enterprise 119REO is an upcycling fashion brand that creates items to remember firefighters in daily life by utilizing fire-fighting equipment past its durability period, and donates 50% of the sales profits to firefighters who were denied compensation due to injury or death in the line of duty.
119REO’s name comes from the initials of Rescue Each Other, meaning ‘just as firefighters save us when we are in danger such as fires or disasters, we also want to save firefighters together.’
From today until the 18th, recycled fire-fighting equipment products will be sold at the event hall on the 1st floor of the main building, and from the 20th until the 9th of next month, at the underground 1st floor connecting passage.
Products such as bracelets, pencil cases, card wallets, and bags that convey the unique texture of fire-fighting protective clothing and hoses will be showcased.
A Gwangju Shinsegae official said, “It seems to be a good opportunity to inform colleagues and children about the sacrifice and dedication of firefighters, and to purchase gifts filled with warm hearts.”
