[Asia Economy Reporter Donghyun Choi] The group BTS has topped the Oricon chart with their new Japanese song "Film out."

According to Big Hit Entertainment on the 4th, BTS's "Film out" recorded 23,344 downloads on the latest chart announced by Japan's Oricon the previous day, securing the number one spot on the Daily Digital Single Ranking.

"Film out" is a track included in BTS's upcoming Japanese best album "BTS, THE BEST," scheduled for release on June 16, and was pre-released on the 2nd. It is a ballad featuring poignant lyrics dedicated to a loved one. Member Jungkook participated in composing the song, collaborating with the Japanese rock band back number to complete it.

"Film out," which showcases a new charm of BTS, has gained tremendous popularity not only in Japan but worldwide immediately after its release. As of 12 PM on the 3rd, it swept the top spots on the iTunes Top Songs charts in 97 countries and regions globally. It also achieved number one on major Japanese music platforms such as LINE Music, AWA, and mora.

Simultaneously with the song's release, BTS also unveiled the "Film out" music video on their official YouTube channel, which recorded 29.38 million views within 24 hours. This is the highest 24-hour view count ever for a BTS original Japanese song. In the "Film out" music video, BTS added to the song's appeal by portraying hollow and lonely expressions longing for someone. As of 8 PM the previous day, the view count surpassed 45.33 million.

Meanwhile, "BTS, THE BEST" is expected to include a total of 23 tracks, featuring "Film out," the digital single "Dynamite" that caused a global sensation, as well as singles and album tracks released in Japan by BTS over the past four years since 2017.
