Seoul Mayor Early Voting Rate Highest in Jongno... Songpa District Has the Most Voters [Image source=Yonhap News]


[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] In the early voting for the Seoul mayoral by-election, Jongno-gu recorded the highest turnout rate. Based on the absolute number of voters, Songpa-gu had the highest number of early voters with 132,662 participants.


According to the National Election Commission on the 4th, Jongno-gu recorded an early voting turnout rate of 24.44% during the early voting held on the 2nd and 3rd, the highest among the 25 districts of Seoul.


This figure is about 2.5 percentage points higher than the overall early voting rate of 21.95%. Dongjak-gu had 23.62%, Songpa-gu 23.37%, and Seodaemun-gu 23.02%, ranking among the top in turnout rates. Following were Seongbuk-gu (22.97%), Yangcheon-gu (22.92%), Seocho-gu (22.56%), Mapo-gu (22.54%), Gangdong-gu (22.50%), and Eunpyeong-gu (22.49%).


Geumcheon-gu showed the lowest early voting rate at 18.89%. Jungnang-gu (20.26%), Dongdaemun-gu (20.46%), Gangbuk-gu (20.80%), and Gangnam-gu (20.83%) also had relatively low turnout rates.


Based on the number of early voters, Songpa-gu had the most with 132,662 people. Gangseo-gu had 108,368 (21.45%), Nowon-gu 98,037 (21.97%), Gwanak-gu 95,118 (21.10%), and Gangnam-gu 94,203 (20.83%).


The district with the fewest early voters was Jung-gu, with 24,205 people (21.26%) voting early. Jongno, which had the highest early voting rate, had 32,324 early voters, ranking 24th in terms of the number of early voters.
