3 Consecutive Scholarship Recipients ... Total 7 Students "Recognized for Talent in Video Field and Creative Content Skills"
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Byeon Ji-won, a junior in the Department of Advertising and PR at Dongmyung University (Department Head Lee Jeong-gi), and Kim Hana, a sophomore, have been selected as the 6th GS SHOP Content Leader scholarship recipients.
The GS SHOP Content Leader program is a talent development initiative sponsored by GS Home Shopping and organized by the Korean Society for Journalism and Communication Studies, which awards scholarships to university students with talents in the video field. Scholarship recipients are selected twice a year, in the first and second semesters.
The list of GS SHOP Content Leader scholarship recipients was announced on April 2 on the Korean Society for Journalism and Communication Studies website.
Twenty scholarship recipients were selected from video-related departments nationwide (such as Media Communication and Advertising and Public Relations). Among them, two are from Dongmyung University's Department of Advertising and PR.
Dongmyung University's Department of Advertising and PR has consistently produced scholarship recipients since the 3rd term in 2019.
The 3rd term recipients were Kim Nam-kyung (senior), the 4th term recipients in 2020 were Song Yu-rim (graduate) and Lee Sang-mi (junior), and the 5th term recipients were Yang Yu-jeong (graduate) and Kwon Bo-kyung (junior).
Dongmyung University's Department of Advertising and PR has produced a total of seven GS SHOP Content Leaders over three consecutive years, showcasing its reputation as a prestigious department for content education (media, advertising, video content).
Professor Lee Jeong-gi, head of the Department of Advertising and PR, introduced, “Byeon Ji-won was active in the video production club ‘Tak’ and achieved numerous awards in on- and off-campus contests, while Kim Hana demonstrated outstanding public service advertisement production skills in joint classes with the Busan Viewer Media Center.”
Professor Lee added, “As the tradition of scholarship recipients continues, the excellent achievements of Byeon Ji-won and Kim Hana will serve as a good example for juniors.”
GS SHOP Content Leader scholarship recipients are selected based on applicants’ self-introductions, academic performance, and achievements in the video field (awards).
Dongmyung University's Department of Advertising and PR changed its department name from Advertising and Public Relations this year. The department conducts Living Lab education to solve various issues in the local community in collaboration with regional public institutions and companies, and PBL (Problem Based Learning) education to cultivate PR talents with problem-solving skills. It also strengthens education in PR planning, video production, and editing based on one-person media such as YouTube and podcasts.
