The antiviral color steel sheets successfully mass-produced by KG Dongbu Steel can eliminate 99.6% of the 'Phi-6 virus,' which has the same form as the COVID-19 virus, within 6 hours.
KG Dongbu Steel plans to conduct efficacy verification tests on the mass-produced antiviral color steel sheets at a domestic COVID-19 virus specialized testing institution. Since the 'Phi-6 virus' is an enveloped type virus identical to COVID-19, the same antiviral effect is expected against the COVID-19 virus.
KCC's antiviral coating was applied to KG Dongbu Steel's antiviral color steel sheets. KCC's antiviral coating has completed verification by specialized testing institutions for basic antiviral effects as well as antibacterial and antifungal effects.
KG Dongbu Steel and KCC are closely collaborating to develop various new color steel sheets recently, and they have successfully developed and mass-produced antiviral color steel sheets quickly in the special situation of the COVID-19 pandemic.
KG Dongbu Steel's antiviral color steel sheets have secured physical properties applicable for interior panels, making them suitable for hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, food companies, as well as schools, commercial buildings, apartments, and any spaces requiring antiviral, antibacterial, and antifungal performance.
A KG Dongbu Steel official stated, "We will continuously update the COVID-19 antiviral test results domestically and plan to obtain additional antiviral certifications from overseas accredited certification bodies."
