Operation of 100MW Shared Solar Power Worth 170 Billion KRW in the Province by 2030
Successful Expansion Model Using 'UriJip RE100 Power Platform'
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Jae-ho] Gyeongbuk Province will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for 'Establishing a Citizen-led Green New Deal Platform' at 2 p.m. on the 31st at Pohang University of Science and Technology.
The agreement includes participants such as Gyeongbuk Province, H Energy Co., Ltd., POSCO, Gyeongbuk Woori Jip RE100 Cooperative, Pohang University of Science and Technology, and PM Grow Co., Ltd.
According to Gyeongbuk Province, this agreement was promoted to proactively respond to the realization of the Green New Deal and the energy revolution through the expansion and transition of renewable energy, transition to a low-carbon economic structure, and the establishment of shared solar power, energy prosumer, open big data center, and power platform, which are core to the Green New Deal policy.
Under this agreement, Gyeongbuk Province will support administration such as permits related to the construction of shared solar power, and H Energy Co., Ltd. will establish a citizen-led shared solar power and Green New Deal platform.
POSCO will develop smart cities and industrial complexes utilizing the platform, and Gyeongbuk Woori Jip RE100 Cooperative will operate actual shared solar power and develop business models related to energy welfare.
Pohang University of Science and Technology will be responsible for power data collection, sharing, and joint research, while PM Grow Co., Ltd. will discover new energy businesses such as electric vehicle charging service products combined with the platform.
Through this agreement, Gyeongbuk Province will build 100 MW of small-scale shared solar power worth 170 billion KRW purely with citizen capital within Gyeongbuk Province by 2030. This structure allows all power generation profits to be shared among local participants, creating a successful expansion model utilizing the 'Woori Jip RE100 Power Platform' that Gyeongbuk Province established last year through a government public project, which is significant.
'Woori Jip RE100' means that electricity used in households is fully supplied by eco-friendly renewable energy, and it was first used nationwide when Gyeongbuk Province conducted a government public project in 2020.
This project, which establishes a power trading platform, provides a framework for various services such as rooftop discovery, power generation facility installation, power trading brokerage, and electricity bill settlement and billing, enabling any citizen to easily participate in shared solar power generation projects.
Song Kyung-chang, Head of the East Coast Regional Headquarters, stated, "Through this MOU, we will do our best to systematically foster new energy industries by discovering energy regulatory exceptions and supporting startup companies, and to establish an innovative green industry foundation such as designating a hydrogen fuel cell special zone."
