[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Joo Sang-don] Starting next month, the 'Comprehensive Support Center for Businesspeople's Entry and Exit' will provide one-stop support including COVID-19 vaccination assistance, issuance of health status certificates, charter flight support, and quarantine exemption support upon domestic entry.
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced on the 31st that Vice Minister Park Jin-gyu will visit the Comprehensive Support Center located at COEX in Samseong-dong, Seoul, to inspect the overall operation status of the businesspeople entry and exit support system.
Previously, in August last year, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, together with the Korea International Trade Association and the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, established the Comprehensive Support Center as a public-private joint effort to support businesspeople's cross-national and cross-border movement during the COVID-19 situation. Since the 17th, it has also served as a centralized reception desk for vaccination of businesspeople who must inevitably travel to high-risk areas (countries) for business reasons.
The government vaccinates businesspeople who have unavoidable overseas business trips for important business reasons if they apply 60 days before the trip, after review by relevant ministries and approval by the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency. A total of 632 cases were received over 8 days from the 17th to the 26th, and once the review by 13 ministries including the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and approval by the Disease Control and Prevention Agency are confirmed, vaccinations are expected to begin in April.
Vice Minister Park said, "The Comprehensive Support Center for Businesspeople's Entry and Exit, which is at the forefront of business support, has made a significant contribution to the national economy and export recovery amid the difficult COVID-19 situation," and added, "In the still severe situation where domestic confirmed cases fluctuate around 400, businesspeople entry and exit support must strictly adhere to thorough quarantine principles and strict procedures."
