[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-joo] The Korea Road Traffic Authority and OB Beer held the '5th Drunk Driving Prevention Merit Awards Ceremony' and on the 30th announced that they awarded certificates of appreciation and commendations to 15 individuals, including police officers and related agency staff who contributed to the prevention of drunk driving.
The ceremony was attended by Lee Jumin, Chairman of the Korea Road Traffic Authority, and Bae Hajun, CEO of OB Beer. The 'Drunk Driving Prevention Merit Awards Ceremony' was established according to the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between the Korea Road Traffic Authority and OB Beer in 2016 to spread and establish a culture of eradicating drunk driving.
The awardees included 10 police officers who contributed to drunk driving prevention, such as the introduction of non-contact breathalyzers, 3 authority employees who contributed to drunk driving prevention and traffic order establishment, and 2 exemplary driver association employees who actively participated in drunk driving prevention campaigns. The authority also presented a plaque of appreciation to OB Beer for their efforts leading drunk driving prevention campaigns over the past five years.
The authority and OB Beer are conducting various activities to prevent and eradicate drunk driving, including the 'Drunk Driving Prevention Campaign for New Drivers' and the 'Drunk Driving Eradication! Vehicle Sticker Contest.'
Chairman Lee Jumin said, "I deeply appreciate the efforts of the awardees who have worked to eradicate drunk driving even amid the COVID-19 crisis," and added, "The authority hopes to continue cooperating with OB Beer to eliminate drunk driving traffic accidents."
CEO Bae Hajun emphasized, "We hold the awards ceremony annually to express gratitude to the unsung heroes in our society who strive to prevent drunk driving," and stated, "As a leading domestic liquor company, we will work harder to establish a safe traffic culture and foster a responsible drinking culture."
