57 Days Since January 29 Release
[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] Samsung Electronics' 2021 new Galaxy S21 series domestic sales surpassed 1 million units on the 26th. This was achieved 57 days after its release on January 29, about a month faster than its predecessor. It is only ten days behind the record set by the Galaxy S10, which recorded historic sales.
Looking at Samsung Electronics' Galaxy S21 series sales performance on the 29th, the sales proportion by model showed that the base model, Galaxy S21, accounted for about 52%, making up the majority. The highest-priced model, Galaxy S21 Ultra, and the mid-priced Galaxy S21 Plus (+) accounted for 27% and 21%, respectively. Among the total sales, the proportion of unlocked devices was about 20%, with approximately 60% of these sold online.
The Galaxy S21 series features a seamless design where the smartphone body, metal frame, and camera are smoothly connected as one. Additionally, it was released in three types to expand customer choices: the compact-sized base model, the Galaxy S21+ with a large 6.7-inch screen and a large-capacity battery, and the Ultra with top-tier specifications.
Market acclaim continues as well. The Galaxy S21+ ranked first in smartphone camera quality evaluation by the VCX Forum, a non-profit organization specializing in camera quality assessment. The VCX Forum evaluated that there is almost no difference in image quality between indoor and outdoor shots, and the selfie quality is also excellent. The Galaxy S21 Ultra was ranked first in the UK consumer association's smartphone evaluation, described as "the most expensive and the best product currently available for purchase."
Meanwhile, Samsung Electronics is extending its launch purchase benefit promotion until the 30th of next month to commemorate the Galaxy S21 series surpassing 1 million units in domestic sales. The promotion includes a 100,000 KRW coupon usable when purchasing genuine wearable devices, a one-year Samsung Care+ subscription, a 50% discount coupon for Galaxy Buds Live, and a 50% discount coupon for the Galaxy Watch.
The 'Galaxy To Go Service,' which allows users to experience the smartphone in daily life, will also be extended until the 30th of next month. The To Go service lets users rent the Galaxy S21 series for up to 2 nights and 3 days without any conditions, allowing them to use it like their own phone in everyday life. It is available at 63 major Samsung Digital Plaza locations nationwide, and the Galaxy Z Fold2 and Galaxy Z Flip 5G are also available for use.
