[Asia Economy Reporter Hyungsoo Park] The stock price of comprehensive content group Wysiwyg Studios is on the rise. News that it is building an 'XR (Extended Reality) stage' and accelerating its 'Metaverse' business appears to be influencing the stock price.
As of 9:21 a.m. on the 29th, Wysiwyg Studios is trading at 13,800 KRW, up 20.61% from the previous trading day.
Wysiwyg announced that its subsidiary, brand experience producer NP, held an opening ceremony for a new XR stage on the 26th.
A Wysiwyg Studios official stated, "By deciding on a 45 billion KRW paid-in capital increase to Com2uS recently, we secured new growth engines and a reliable partner. Especially, in the era of the Metaverse, we will leverage Wysiwyg's all-around content production solutions in movies, dramas, performances, entertainment, and marketing, along with NP's planning capabilities, marketing, and XR stage, to build a new paradigm of the Metaverse and accelerate global expansion."
The XR stage is a structure that connects the digital world and the physical world based on virtual production technology. Wysiwyg explained that it will provide differentiated technology for the Metaverse, a three-dimensional virtual world encompassing both reality and unreality.
The event was attended by various companies, including major platform companies, telecommunications companies, entertainment companies, broadcasters, and game companies.
An official said, "The Metaverse is a concept used to mean a three-dimensional virtual world, more specifically a lifestyle and game-type virtual world where both reality and unreality coexist," and added, "If non-face-to-face and untact were the keys during the early COVID-19 period, now it is evolving into the era of the so-called 'Metaverse,' where 'concurrence' and 'interactive' are core."
For designing consumer experiences, differentiated technology from the past is necessary. The official explained that they opened the XR stage because they judged that 'Extended Reality XR solutions' and 'immersive content' would play a role.
NP's XR stage is the first permanent XR-exclusive stage in Korea. It can be used in various ways across brand and product launches, live events, and entertainment in general. It is expected to play a significant role in Wysiwyg Studios' content production process, and NP plans to expand its business categories to live events, entertainment, live commerce, and MCN broadcast content starting with this XR stage launch.
NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang mentioned the 'Metaverse' as the key topic that will lead the next 20 years. This means that an era is approaching where humanity will literally operate based on a three-dimensional virtual world. The Metaverse is a massive trend following the advent of the internet and the era of social networking services (SNS), not only changing the way connections are made but also expanding the objects of connection. It is highly likely to become the foundation of a world where humans and machines (AI) coexist beyond just human-to-human connections.
