Limited 'Spring Flower Walk' Held for Safe Cherry Blossom Viewing While Following Quarantine Rules... Entire Process Filmed and Publicized to Ensure Transparency and Fairness in Visitor Selection
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Yeongdeungpo-gu (Mayor Cha Hyun-il) announced that it will transparently and fairly disclose the entire selection process of visitors for the limited spring flower viewing program, ‘Spring Flower Walk,’ which can be applied for on the Spring Flower Festival website starting from 10 a.m. on April 1.
This year, the district has prepared a limited viewing ‘Spring Flower Walk’ program that allows entry to the controlled area of Yeouiseo-ro Cherry Blossom Road, part of the first-ever hybrid online and offline spring flower festival program.
The viewing target includes 72 people per session selected from the general public, including socially disadvantaged groups. The daily entry capacity is 504 people, with a total of 49 sessions.
To dispel various suspicions such as the possibility of third-party paid transfers of ‘Spring Flower Walk’ entry qualifications and manipulation of the selection process, the district will record the entire random selection process and transparently disclose it on the Spring Flower Festival website.
To block illegal transactions such as ‘ticket sales,’ entry will not be allowed if the person is not the applicant, and tickets are strictly non-transferable to others.
Also, QR codes used at entry will be made non-reusable to completely prevent ticket reuse.
Not only applicants but also accompanying persons’ prior information will be collected, and visitors must bring identification for identity verification at the entrance to be allowed entry.
Additionally, for those who are disappointed by not being selected, the district plans to offer various spring flower videos on the website, filmed from perspectives such as ‘eye-level viewpoint’ and ‘slow motion,’ allowing visitors to enjoy and heal while viewing the flowers.
The district has also thoroughly implemented quarantine measures to prevent COVID-19 infection among visitors, including placing quarantine and order maintenance personnel at 150m intervals, setting up isolation booths for suspected COVID-19 cases, operating waiting areas, and managing visitor logs.
Mayor Cha Hyun-il of Yeongdeungpo-gu stated, “Through fair and transparent selection and operation of the ‘Spring Flower Walk,’ we will set a model case for limited viewing operations,” and added, “We will do our best to ensure that the Spring Flower Festival is safe and fair for everyone to enjoy.”
