[Asia Economy Reporter Jumi Lee] A post exposing a postpartum caregiver for allegedly abusing a 20-day-old newborn by lifting the baby upside down has sparked public outrage online.

On the 25th, a post titled "Government-supported postpartum caregiver abusing a 20-day-old newborn" was uploaded on the online community 'Bobae Dream.'

The author, identified as A, who claimed to be the baby's aunt, revealed CCTV footage showing a postpartum caregiver taking care of the baby at a house in Cheongbuk New Town, Pyeongtaek.

A explained, "The baby's mother was physically exhausted and also had to care for her first son, so we hired a government-supported postpartum caregiver," adding, "The parents were all in the master bedroom, and we had notified about the CCTV installation, but the caregiver blatantly lifted the baby like that."

The footage released by A shows the postpartum caregiver holding only the baby's feet with one hand, leaving the baby hanging upside down.

A said, "We were recommended this caregiver because she was experienced and popular," and added, "Fortunately, my nephew seems to have no issues, but according to a specialist, the baby is too young to do anything now, so they advised a detailed examination after three months."

She continued, "(The baby's parents) had their second child at an older age and applied for a caregiver to manage postpartum care and childcare without help from either side of the family," expressing, "The baby's parents are currently in a state of mental breakdown."

A lamented, "She reassured the baby's mother not to worry in front of her, but was a demon when out of sight," and said, "I hope this woman never works in any child-related field again."

Netizens who saw the post expressed anger, saying, "I was furious the moment I saw it. How could she lift a newborn like that? She should be punished," "Isn't this attempted murder?" and "The baby can't even hold up its neck; my heart dropped."
