[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Hyowon] Mirae Company (CEO Kim Jungoo) announced on the 26th that a private agreement has been signed in which Samsung SDI participates as a demand company and private investment company to support research and development in the all-solid-state battery government project led by Mirae Company.
The all-solid-state battery project consortium led by Mirae Company (with joint participation from CIS, etc.) began conducting the all-solid-state battery research and development project in June last year and is expected to receive various support from the government and Samsung SDI for a total of five years until 2024.
With Samsung SDI participating as a private investment institution and demand institution in this government project private agreement, more attention is being focused on it.
Leading global companies such as Quantum Scape and Solid Power are accelerating the development of these all-solid-state batteries. Global automakers are also speeding up the commercialization of all-solid-state batteries.
Battery company Quantum Scape aims for mass production in 2024, Solid Power in 2023, and automaker Toyota aims to launch all-solid-state battery vehicles in the early 2020s.
A representative of Mirae Company said, “Recently, demand for the commercialization of all-solid-state batteries has rapidly increased, so we have started construction of a Dry Room that can be jointly developed with partner companies and institutions. The timing for the delivery of all-solid-state battery manufacturing equipment is expected to be as early as June, which will give more momentum to joint research and development of all-solid-state battery manufacturing equipment in the future.”
