ENPlus Collaborates with Greenergy to Develop Next-Generation Graphene Secondary Batteries

[Asia Economy Reporter Hyungsoo Park] ENPlus announced on the 25th that it has signed a joint development agreement with lithium secondary battery company 'Greenergy' to jointly develop medium-to-large batteries of '20Ah' class or higher for electric vehicles and ESS using graphene materials.

Greenergy is a secondary battery company jointly founded by engineers from Apple, Tesla, Samsung, and Hyundai. It has been selected as a 'market-leading' company by the Korea Credit Guarantee Fund and as a TIPS (Tech Incubator Program for Startup) company by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups. It is a venture company recognized for its external technological capabilities.

They succeeded in developing a ‘high-performance secondary battery’ that delivers high voltage while maintaining high stability through the application of lithium titanate oxide (LTO) material and internal structure improvements. Development of all-solid-state batteries is also underway.

Through the agreement, Greenergy will be responsible for providing manufacturing facilities and technical support necessary for the development of related materials and finished products for next-generation lithium-ion secondary batteries. ENPlus will develop graphene materials and liquid graphene required for next-generation battery development and supply them to Greenergy.

An ENPlus official explained, "The high-performance secondary battery independently developed by Greenergy has already been verified through programs such as the Defense Venture Program," adding, "It showed satisfactory results in various tests including safety performance, rapid charge/discharge performance, low-temperature charging performance, and lifespan performance."

He continued, "ENPlus plans to support battery electrodes, assembly, charge/discharge-related technologies, and component selection for the next-generation lithium-ion batteries that Greenergy intends to sell," and added, "Finished battery products and material components will be commercialized through mutual cooperation."
