A Drunken Driver Staggering Caught Red-Handed by a Police Officer Leaving Work in His 40s

[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Byung-don] A woman in her 40s driving under the influence was caught by a police officer who was off duty.

Seoul Gwanak Police Station announced on the 25th that A (40) was booked on charges of drunk driving under the Road Traffic Act.

According to the police, A is suspected of driving under the influence for about 6 km from Siheung-daero in Gwanak-gu to near her home on Munseong-ro at around 12:20 a.m. that day.

A was caught by a police officer from Gwanak Station who was off duty. The officer, who was driving home in a private car, saw A’s vehicle swaying on the road, reported it to 112, and then followed A’s route.

When A tried to get off in front of her residence, the officer identified himself and stayed at the scene until other police arrived.

The breathalyzer test showed that A’s blood alcohol concentration was at the level for license cancellation. The police plan to investigate the details of the case with A.
