Seocheon Seok, Director of 'Happy Child Research Institute,' Special Lecture on 'Raising Children in the COVID-19 Era'

[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] The ‘Gangseo Knowledge Vitamin Lecture,’ a representative cultural lecture series of Gangseo-gu that was temporarily suspended due to COVID-19, has returned online.

Gangseo-gu, Seoul (Mayor Noh Hyun-song) announced that the ‘Gangseo Knowledge Vitamin Lecture,’ which was previously held as a public lecture, will be held online starting this April.

The Gangseo Knowledge Vitamin Lecture is a long-standing cultural program in Gangseo-gu that has been held regularly every month since its first lecture in March 2007. However, it was not operated last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, leading to continuous requests from residents for its resumption.

In response, the district will operate the ‘Gangseo Knowledge Vitamin Lecture Enjoyed Online,’ which can be viewed monthly on YouTube, replacing the existing offline lectures.

To start, the district will hold the 152nd Gangseo Knowledge Vitamin Lecture under the theme ‘Raising Children in the COVID-19 Era.’

The purpose is to help parents reflect on themselves and provide proper child-rearing methods suitable for the COVID-19 era.

This lecture will be conducted by Seo Cheon-seok, director of the Happy Child Research Institute and a national childcare mentor.

Seo Cheon-seok, who has published numerous books such as ‘Parents Growing with Their Children’ and ‘Our Child is Okay,’ will share child-rearing methods for the COVID-19 era based on his experiences with parents and children as a pediatric psychiatrist over many years.

The lecture video will be posted on the Gangseo-gu Office YouTube channel (iGangseoTV) for three days from April 15 to 17. Anyone can watch it without prior registration by accessing YouTube and searching for Gangseo-gu Office.

Before the lecture, the district will accept pre-questions from March 25 to 30. Questions can be submitted through the ‘Questions for the Lecturer!’ section on the Gangseo Lifelong Learning Center website.

Selected questions will be answered during the lecture, and the questioners will receive the lecturer’s books. However, if multiple similar questions are submitted, the first questioner will be selected.

A district official said, “We expect this lecture to help form positive relationships between parents and children who are spending more time together at home due to COVID-19,” and added, “We will continue to strive to provide various lectures that help residents in their daily lives.”
