[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-ju] The Korea Road Traffic Authority announced on the 22nd that it will implement an 'Internet Reservation System' for the automobile driver's license written test at 27 driver's license examination centers nationwide.

The existing driver's license written test has been conducted as a computer-based test where applicants visit the test center in person for same-day registration and testing. However, during peak periods such as school vacations or when the number of entrants allowed inside the test center is limited due to quarantine measures, applicants faced inconveniences as they could not take the test on the same day.

The Authority expects that the implementation of this reservation system will alleviate applicants' inconveniences and greatly help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

To make a reservation for the written test online, applicants can access the Authority's 'Safe Driving Integrated Civil Service' via PC or smartphone, then click on the 'Driver's License Test' menu followed by 'Written Test Reservation.'

Applicants must bring their ID and three photos on the reserved date and arrive at the test center at least 30 minutes before the reserved time. After completing the application form and physical examination, they can register for the written test and take the exam. However, those who have not completed the 'Pre-Test Traffic Safety Education' may be restricted from taking the test, so they should check in advance whether they have completed or are exempt from the education.

Nam Taek-hwa, Director of the Driver's License Headquarters at the Authority, said, "We have established an internet reservation system to disperse the number of test-takers inside the test centers and minimize applicants' inconveniences," adding, "We will continue to do our best for the convenience and safety of the public."
