[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] Samsung Electronics announced on the 21st that it will sequentially launch its 2021 high-resolution monitors equipped with various innovative technologies worldwide, starting with Korea.
The newly released high-resolution monitors consist of a total of 10 models across 3 series (S8, S7, S6). They are equipped with various features that improve image quality and convenience, allowing users to choose products according to their needs. All 2021 models enhance image quality with ▲1 billion colors ▲178-degree wide viewing angle panels ▲HDR10 support.
The S8 series is a premium model supporting UHD (3840x2160) resolution in both 27-inch and 32-inch sizes. It supports up to 99% sRGB color gamut (a standard color space developed through collaboration between Microsoft and HP) for clear content. Additionally, the S8 and S6 series feature USB-C ports that allow screen connection with a single cable, supporting up to 90W charging and 10Gbps data transfer. They also include various connectivity options such as USB 3.0 and USB hubs, providing both user convenience and versatility.
The S7 series is released in 27-inch and 32-inch UHD resolution models like the S8 series, differentiated by an ultra-slim stand design. The S6 series comes in various sizes of 34-inch, 32-inch, and 27-inch, supporting QHD (2560x1440) resolution and features like 'PBP' (Picture-by-Picture) for split-screen use and 'PIP' (Picture-in-Picture) for displaying a small screen within the main screen.
The S8 and S6 series apply ergonomic stands that allow height adjustment, tilt up and down, swivel left and right, and screen rotation between landscape and portrait modes freely. They also feature a three-sided bezel-less design that harmonizes well with any workspace.
Samsung’s 2021 high-resolution monitors also include eye protection features for users who use the product for extended periods. The 'Adaptive Picture' function automatically adjusts screen brightness and color temperature in 42 steps according to changes in the surrounding environment. There is also an 'Eye Protection Mode' that reduces blue light, which causes eye fatigue, and a 'Flicker-Free' function that reduces screen flickering to protect eyesight. Thanks to these features, all models have received the 'Intelligent Eye Care' certification from Germany’s global certification body, TUV Rheinland.
The domestic retail price of the products ranges from 450,000 to 670,000 KRW depending on size and model. Ha Hye-seung, Executive Vice President of Samsung Electronics’ Visual Display Business Division, said, "As multitasking environments using web browsers, document editing, and messengers simultaneously become common, the demand for high-resolution monitors of QHD level or higher is increasing. We will continue to introduce diverse and innovative new products that meet market demands to strengthen our leadership in the high-resolution monitor market."
