[Asia Economy Reporter Chunhee Lee] Severance Hospital Rehabilitation Hospital received the highest level evaluation in the international rehabilitation program CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) assessment.
Severance Hospital Rehabilitation Hospital announced on the 19th that it received a 3-year accreditation, the highest level evaluation in the CARF assessment. CARF is a non-profit accreditation organization that evaluates the quality of rehabilitation medical services. It is headquartered in the United States and assesses the qualitative level of rehabilitation programs in various countries.
Severance Rehabilitation Hospital underwent an evaluation of various rehabilitation-related items for three days starting January 13. The evaluation was divided into three sessions: Session 1 assessing administration and management methods, Session 2 covering rehabilitation and service processes, and Session 3 evaluating inpatient rehabilitation programs.
In this CARF accreditation evaluation, Severance Hospital Rehabilitation Hospital received a "very excellent" rating in 209 out of 210 items. In particular, anti-terrorism training and medical missionary service by the Disabled Support Association were cited as exemplary cases for future evaluations of other institutions. The evaluation team stated that Severance Rehabilitation Hospital is operated with leadership that has a high understanding of patients and listens to the voices of staff, providing high-quality rehabilitation services to patients.
Kim Deok-yong, director of Severance Rehabilitation Hospital, said, "Severance Rehabilitation Hospital is the first university-operated rehabilitation hospital in Korea and has provided the best rehabilitation medical services so far," adding, "With the CARF accreditation achieved through the efforts of all faculty and staff, we will strive to develop further as a rehabilitation hospital trusted and visited by people worldwide."
