[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] Online video service Wavve announced on the 19th that it will release Lifetime channel's TV movies and reality overseas entertainment series on OTT for the first time.
Lifetime's TV movies are presented in the form of short films covering diverse themes such as thrillers, romance, and biographies of celebrities, having released over 100 titles in the past year alone.
A total of 10 TV movies will be available on Wavve starting today. First, "The Legendary Gospel Group, The Clark Sisters" tells the story of the five Clark sisters who brought gospel into mainstream music and performed on the Grammy stage. This work was recognized by critics as it was nominated for Best TV Movie at the 26th Critics' Choice Awards, hosted by the Broadcast Film Critics Association in the United States.
Additionally, five films from the "Castile Series," adapted from bestselling novels by author Virginia Andrews, and several thriller genre works such as "The Murderer in the Guest House," "Suspicious Neighbor," "Mysterious Family Photo," and "Sisters' Secret" are scheduled.
Wavve will also release Lifetime channel's entertainment programs. "My Fit Partner" is a project entertainment series where a trainer with a perfect body gains weight and participates in a diet challenge with a super obese contestant. Both seasons 1 and 2 of "My Fit Partner" will be available on Wavve. Other popular contents such as "Marrying a Millionaire" seasons 1 and 2, and "Real Love Trip" present love stories that are realistic yet entertaining.
Han Seunghee, Unit Head of Wavve's Overseas Programming Business Team, said, "We decided to acquire the content because Lifetime channel's programs, which caused a big sensation in the U.S., are expected to generate great interest among Wavve users."
