Jeju Air Apologizes for Consecutive Safety Incidents... Strengthening Training and Inspections

[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] Jeju Air bowed its head, stating that the recent consecutive safety accidents were "the result of insufficient attention during the aircraft operation and post-landing fuselage inspection process."

On the 18th, Jeju Air announced safety measures including strengthening intermediate external inspections of aircraft, and stated, "We will immediately implement additional measures to prevent such incidents from recurring."

First, safety education for flight crew will be reinforced by conducting additional simulator training, and safety inspections at maintenance sites in each airport will be actively carried out.

They plan to more strictly check for any skill degradation due to flight crew leave and, in cases of expected bad weather, select and deploy more experienced crew members.

Also, before and after aircraft operation, sufficient time will be secured for external inspections, with flight crew and maintenance personnel working in pairs to check nine key points of the aircraft's major external intermediate inspection.

Previously, on the 8th, a Jeju Air passenger plane had a contact accident with an Air Seoul passenger plane at Jeju Airport. On the 10th, a Jeju Air aircraft departing from Gimpo Airport tilted to the left upon landing on the runway at Gimhae Airport, damaging the auxiliary wing.

Jeju Air said, "We are devising additional measures for the aircraft operation and safety inspection process to strengthen safety and will continuously implement them."
