A man in his 50s with multiple DUI probation sentences faces harsh penalty again after driving
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] A man in his 50s (male, Mr. A) who drove under the influence for about 2 meters in his home parking lot was sentenced to a hefty fine of 15 million won.
Mr. A, despite being punished multiple times for drunk driving, once again took the wheel while intoxicated in his home parking lot.
On the 16th, the Ulsan District Court announced that it sentenced Mr. A to a fine of 15 million won for violating the Road Traffic Act.
Mr. A was indicted for driving about 2 meters in his home parking lot in Ulju-gun, Ulsan, last October with a blood alcohol concentration at a level warranting license cancellation.
It is known that Mr. A’s drunk driving was discovered after he hit another vehicle during parking.
Mr. A had previously been sentenced to fines and suspended prison terms four times since 2010 for drunk driving.
The court explained the reason for imposing the large fine, stating, “Mr. A committed the crime again during the probation period despite being punished multiple times for drunk driving.”
