[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] Seoul Startup Hub announced on the 16th that it will partner with CJ O Shopping to select innovative startups in the manufacturing and IT manufacturing sectors. They will provide close support throughout the entire process, from prototype production to entry into CJ O Shopping, and take responsibility for overseas expansion.
Seoul Startup Hub is recruiting 20 companies to participate in the 2nd “Challenge! Startup,” an excellent startup nurturing program at the Product Commercialization Support Center, until the 26th. Eligible applicants are companies operating workplaces (headquarters, branches, factories, research institutes) in Seoul in the manufacturing and IT sectors that possess promising prototypes and have concrete plans for market entry.
Twenty companies with innovative technologies in the manufacturing and IT manufacturing fields will be selected, and each will receive up to 60 million KRW to support prototype production costs. Additionally, the 10 companies finally selected will receive benefits for market support. These include not only broadcasting opportunities on CJ O Shopping but also 0% home shopping sales commission, entry into CJ Mall, use of the Seoul Startup Hub large corporation cooperation zone coworking space (for one year), and benefits such as mass production support consulting and manufacturing factory linkage from the Product Commercialization Support Center.
Applications can be submitted by the 26th through the Product Commercialization Support Center website. The selection process involves a first round of document screening in early April to select 30 companies. Selected companies will receive services from the Seoul Startup Hub Product Commercialization Support Center, including prototype production and initial mass production consulting, as well as product branding and market linkage consulting utilizing CJ O Shopping’s marketing infrastructure.
Kim Dongjo, head of Seoul Startup Hub, said, “Hardware startups face many difficulties and costs from initial idea generation to prototype production, mass production line establishment, and product sales. We will provide close support so that ‘Challenge! Startup’ becomes a continuous growth opportunity for startups with innovative technologies.”
Meanwhile, the Seoul Startup Hub Product Commercialization Support Center helps startups struggling with product development and mass production, discovers promising excellent startups, and supports various programs such as initial mass production and market development. It also operates a more systematic hardware support program through agreements with large corporations and specialized accelerators.
