According to Hyundai Motor on the 14th, Genesis sales from January to February totaled 18,818 units, a 204% surge compared to the same period last year.
This year, Genesis accounted for 16.9% of Hyundai Motor's total sales (111,603 units), marking an all-time high. This is a 9.7 percentage point increase compared to the same period last year.
It is analyzed that Genesis sales have been on the rise due to the launch of the brand's first SUV model, the GV80, last year, and the release of the new generation G80 after a model change.
The GV80, launched in January last year, gained popularity by securing 15,000 contracts on the first day alone, exceeding initial expectations with total sales of 34,217 units.
The new G80 also surpassed 22,000 pre-orders before its release, and sold a total of 56,150 units last year (including some older models), setting a record for annual sales.
Considering that sales of the second SUV, the GV70, unveiled at the end of last year, are now in full swing and that Genesis electric vehicles are scheduled for release, the upward trend in Genesis sales is expected to continue.
