Boseong-gun to Hold Next Year's Boseong World Tea Expo Briefing... Launching a New Festival-Style Expo

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Cheon-seok] Boseong County announced on the 12th that it held a mid-term briefing session for the 10th Boseong World Tea Expo, which will be held from April 29 to May 5, in the county office small conference room the day before.

The briefing session was attended by Kim Cheol-woo, Governor of Boseong County, Kim Jae-cheol, Chairman of the County Council, and about 20 representatives of local tea cultivation and tea culture organizations, sharing the vision for next year's Boseong World Tea Expo.

In particular, concrete implementation plans were discussed regarding differentiated content and program development that can embody Boseong County's 10 years of know-how in hosting the expo, the composition of the theme pavilion, event site creation, cooperation plans with tea experts nationwide and worldwide, and globalization and futurization plans for Korea's tea industry.

This year, marking the 9th edition, from next month until September, pre-expo promotional events and sales of tea and agricultural and specialty products will be held through live commerce on the last Saturday of each month, and the main event will be held from September 29 to October 3 as an integrated festival along with the Dahyang Grand Festival, Sound Festival, and Citizens' Day.

Next year's 10th Boseong World Tea Expo will be a meaningful event commemorating the 10th edition, breaking away from the old format of previous expos, and will be composed of content that allows not only domestic and international tea experts but also people of all ages and genders to heal and find relaxation through tea.

Additionally, regardless of location, differentiated programs are being organized that connect tea fields, the sea, and mountains, allowing encounters with tea in the vast nature.

Kim Cheol-woo, Governor of Boseong County, said, "Through next year's 10th Boseong World Tea Expo, we plan to create a dynamic and attractive festival-type expo that can demonstrate the potential for the Boseong tea industry to expand into a future industry," adding, "We will thoroughly prepare so that the expo becomes a major turning point for Korea's tea industry to lead the global market."

Meanwhile, the Boseong World Tea Expo started in 2013 as the 'World Famous Tea Tasting Competition' and from 2014 has held the 'World Tea Expo' in Seoul and Gwangju with participation from domestic and international tea-related organizations and companies, growing into a representative expo for tea events in Korea and greatly contributing to promoting Korea as a tea-producing country worldwide.

Last year, to overcome the COVID-19 situation, the first-ever on-tact 'Boseong World Tea Expo' was held nationwide, with over 64,000 people participating online over four days, generating nearly 120 million KRW in sales, and was recognized as an excellent case of proactive administration.
