[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] IA Networks, which is jointly conducting related business, is showing strength following the news that SK Telecom will launch the ‘Galaxy A Quantum2’ equipped with a Quantum Random Number Generator (QRNG) chip. This is interpreted as heightened expectations for the supply of QRNG modules.
As of 1:52 PM on the 12th, IA Networks was trading at 1,865 KRW, up 3.32% (60 KRW) compared to the previous trading day.
The day before, SKT announced that it will release the second smartphone with quantum security technology, the Galaxy A Quantum2, next month. The Galaxy A Quantum2 succeeds the ‘Galaxy A Quantum,’ which was launched last year as the world’s first quantum cryptography 5G smartphone. It is an SKT-exclusive model that adds quantum random number encryption technology to Samsung Electronics’ ‘Galaxy A82 5G.’
The QRNG chip embedded in the Galaxy A Quantum2 was developed by SKT and its quantum cryptography communication specialized subsidiary, IDQ. It uses quantum-based pure random numbers generated by the chipset to provide stronger encryption keys and protect user personal information.
IA Networks supplied the QRNG module for the Galaxy A Quantum based on its `NeoPAC 3D Shrink module` technology, which enables ultra-compact packaging of QRNG chips, and has been collaborating with IDQ on QRNG development. The Galaxy A Quantum achieved positive market response by surpassing 300,000 units sold within six months of its launch.
Meanwhile, the domestic retail price of the Galaxy A Quantum2 is expected to be in the range of 700,000 to 800,000 KRW. SKT plans to expand quantum cryptography security-related services through the Galaxy A Quantum2. It is known to be preparing new services in fintech and finance sectors, where mobile usage has increased.
