[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Jeong-min] The Blue House announced that after a thorough investigation into the real estate speculation allegations involving 368 individuals, including secretariat-level officials and above, their spouses, and immediate family members related to the 3rd New Town development, no suspicious cases were found.
Jung Man-ho, the Blue House Senior Secretary for Public Communication, stated during a briefing at the Chuncheon Press Center on the afternoon of the 11th, "The Blue House is conducting an internal investigation into land transaction records of all employees, their spouses, and immediate family members regarding the 3rd New Town real estate speculation allegations." He added, "As a first step, a full investigation of land transaction records for 368 high-ranking officials at the secretariat level and above, their spouses, and immediate family members confirmed that there are no cases suspected of real estate speculation."
Jung also noted, "Two cases of housing purchases in areas adjacent to the 3rd New Town are normal transactions outside the project zone and are apartments where the individuals actually reside. These are understood to be registered in the officials' asset declarations." He further stated, "The investigation of land transactions involving 3,614 employees below the administrative officer level, their spouses, and immediate family members will be announced promptly once completed."
A senior Blue House official explained, "The fact that there are no transactions suspected of speculation means there were no such transactions at all." He added, "The two cases are in neighborhoods adjacent to the 3rd New Town target area but are within urban districts. These are houses outside the target area. You can easily verify the details by reviewing the asset disclosure records of the officials."
The Blue House conducted the investigation by obtaining consent forms from secretariat-level officials and above and cross-referencing resident registration numbers in the land transaction database. It is known that President Moon and his family were also included in this investigation.
A senior Blue House official stated, "The same standards applied by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) were used," adding, "this applies to all current Blue House employees."
