[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) decorated the plaza in front of the district office with colorful and bright spring flowers to help residents visiting the office regain vitality in anticipation of the upcoming spring.

On the 5th, the district planted 2,600 herbaceous plants including poppies, daisies, and violas, as well as 150 shrubs such as golden euonymus, in the flower beds and circular planters in front of the district office plaza.

To support flower farmers who suffered losses due to the cancellation of various events caused by COVID-19, the planting schedule was advanced for early ordering, increasing the purchase amount from 2 million KRW last year to 3.5 million KRW.

Additionally, starting from the end of March, the district plans to plant over 10,000 flower seedlings in 10 major parks, install hanging flower pots at bus stops along Siheung-daero, and create citizen-led urban greening projects by replacing flowers throughout the four seasons, thereby actively establishing beautiful flower paths in Geumcheon-gu.

Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, “We planted flower seedlings mainly in purple and yellow colors with a message of hope to encourage residents exhausted by the prolonged COVID-19 situation to regain vitality and overcome it together. I hope the fragrance of flowers heralding the new spring will comfort the weary minds and bodies of residents and help them regain energy.”
