[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Juhee] A professor at a national university in a provincial area has been accused of habitual verbal abuse, including saying "Do you want to be hit with an ashtray?" which allegedly led a researcher to attempt extreme measures twice.
According to an MBN report on the 10th, A, a researcher at the dental college research center of a national university in a provincial area, attempted extreme measures twice due to the personality-degrading verbal abuse from Professor B.
In a recording released by A, Professor B said things like "Honestly, I want to hit you once... Why do you even get paid (salary)?" and verbally abused A.
Professor B also intimidated A by mentioning job security, saying "If this were another workplace, you would have really been hit with an ashtray and fired" because of mistakes made.
Regarding this, Professor B denied the allegations, stating that A caused problems such as multiple mistakes during experiments.
Professor B said, "While taking measures regarding parts of the work that were not properly performed, incidents and accidents began to occur. There was also damage to property."
However, students attending the university claimed that Professor B frequently used verbal abuse even in normal circumstances.
Student C described Professor B as a 'figure of fear' and revealed, "I asked him to stop the derogatory remarks and personal insults, but he ignored it and kept shouting."
The university's human rights center acknowledged Professor B's verbal abuse but reportedly has yet to implement measures to prevent recurrence.
