Support up to 15.2 million KRW for passenger cars and 23.2 million KRW for cargo vehicles
[Damyang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Damyang County, Jeollanam-do announced that it will accept applications for subsidies for the purchase of electric vehicles starting from the 10th to protect the health of residents and improve air quality.
The county is implementing an electric vehicle distribution project aiming for a 3% electric vehicle adoption rate over three years as part of the Green New Deal policy to transition to eco-friendly vehicles.
The scale includes 71 passenger cars and 44 cargo vehicles, totaling 115 units, which is more than seven times last year's amount. Subsidies for passenger cars will be provided with varying local government funds depending on national subsidies, up to a maximum of 15.2 million KRW, and for cargo vehicles, based on 1-ton small trucks, 23.2 million KRW will be supported in order of delivery and registration.
Ten percent of the total support is preferentially allocated to vulnerable groups such as people with disabilities, small business owners, families with multiple children, first-time buyers, taxi drivers, and those purchasing electric vehicles after scrapping old diesel vehicles with emission grade 5. Among cargo vehicles, 10% of the quota is preferentially allocated to products manufactured by small and medium-sized enterprises.
Eligibility requires applicants to be residents aged 18 or older who have continuously lived in Damyang County for more than three months as of the application date, or corporations, businesses, and public institutions located within the county.
However, those with outstanding local taxes or non-tax revenues, duplicate applications, or disqualifications such as moving out of the county are not eligible for subsidies.
The application period for electric passenger cars starts from March 10 and continues until the budget is exhausted. Applicants should visit an electric vehicle dealership for consultation, complete the application and contract forms, and manufacturers/importers must submit applications online through the Low Emission Vehicle Purchase Subsidy Support System.
For detailed support conditions and application methods, refer to the announcement posted on the Damyang County website under notices and announcements. For further inquiries, contact the Damyang County Ecology and Environment Division or the dealerships and branches of electric vehicle manufacturers/importers.
