Dongseo University Department of Architectural Engineering, Rated 'Best' from Industry Perspective Last Year Following 2016 Excellence

The Department of Architectural Engineering at Dongseo University was selected as the top university in last year's industry-oriented university evaluation.

Dongseo University was honored as the top choice. It won the award for the second consecutive time following the evaluation four years ago.

Dongseo University (President Jang Je-guk) announced on the 10th that its Department of Architectural Engineering was selected as the best department in the field of Architecture (Construction) in the ‘2020 Industry-Oriented University Evaluation’ conducted by the Ministry of Education and the Korea Council for University Education.

The ‘Industry-Oriented University Evaluation’ has been conducted since 2008 by the Korea Council for University Education to suggest directions for improving university curricula reflecting industry demands and to support the cultivation of industry-tailored human resources by selecting industries.

This evaluation was carried out by an evaluation committee composed of executives and employees from 20 domestic companies including Samsung C&T, Hyundai Development Company, and Lotte Construction, as well as university evaluation experts, focusing on three areas: industry-based curriculum design, operation, and operational performance.

The Department of Architectural Engineering at Dongseo University received high praise for introducing the In-School Field System (IFS), an on-campus field education system supporting high-density experiential learning.

Additionally, in 2016, when the evaluation in this field was also conducted, the department received the highest rating, making it the only department in the Busan area to be selected as the best department in the Architecture (Construction) field for two consecutive times.

Lee Dong-woon, head of the Department of Architectural Engineering, said, “Through industry-tailored curricula, the number of excellent employment success cases has been increasing recently, and we will do our best to strengthen the work capabilities of students needed by the industry, using this evaluation as a stepping stone.”
