Consistent Creative Activities Expected to Comfort the Minds and Bodies of Citizens Weary from COVID-19
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Jinju City, Gyeongnam Province, announced that on the 9th at 11 a.m., Mayor Jo Gyu-il of Jinju held a meeting with the executives of the Jinju branch of the Korea Theater Association in the Entrepreneur's Room at City Hall, urging the development of local theater arts and active creative activities by artists.
The meeting was attended by the new branch head Lee Geum-cheol, executives, and former branch head Park Beom-ju.
At the meeting, Mayor Jo Gyu-il presented a plaque of appreciation to former branch head Park Beom-ju for his tireless efforts to inspire the creative motivation of theater artists, stating, "The reason Jinju City is recognized as a cultural and artistic city is largely due to the hard work of theater artists," and added, "I ask for continuous creative activities so that theater, the heart of the arts, can comfort the minds and bodies of citizens exhausted by COVID-19 and make Jinju a city where people want to stay."
In response, new branch head Lee Geum-cheol expressed gratitude for the city's active support of cultural and artistic organizations struggling due to COVID-19, and stated, "We will do our best to develop and revitalize local theater arts through various experimental forms of creative activities."
Meanwhile, the Jinju branch of the Korea Theater Association held the 21st On:Jinju Theater Festival online festival until the 28th of last month, filming a total of 19 works including official invited productions and citizen participation theaters without an audience, and released them on their YouTube channel, receiving great response from citizens.
