Time for Communication with Bicycle Club 'Team Baram Sori'
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] On the 9th at 3 p.m., Jinju Mayor Cho Gyu-il spent time with six members of the bicycle club ‘Team Baram Sori’ for a March date with citizens in the situation room on the 5th floor of Jinju City Hall.
Team Baram Sori started in 2009 as the ‘Jinju MTB Club Baram Sori’ and changed to its current club name in 2017. Currently, 32 regular members are active. Last year, at the awards ceremony of the ‘National Bicycle Riding Battle’ held in Jeonju, Jeollabuk-do, the team won 2nd place nationwide in the excellent team category.
The members who attended the date with citizens on this day suggested measures for mountain bike enthusiasts to coexist with hikers while riding bicycles, environmental improvements of bicycle roads such as supplementing CCTV installation, and the construction of bicycle paths between adjacent cities like Jinju and Hadong by actively utilizing existing railway lines.
Mayor Cho said, “This year as well, we will accelerate projects that enhance the value of Jinju as a bicycle city by investing a large budget,” adding, “It would be wonderful if many citizens enjoy healthy leisure activities by using bicycles and leave a clean green environment for our children.”
Meanwhile, at the end of last year, the city received the Prime Minister’s institutional commendation in the ‘2020 Bicycle Use Activation Excellent Organization’ contest hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, achieving the honor for two consecutive years following the ministerial commendation in 2019.
