[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Geochang-gun, Gyeongnam Province, will provide the "2nd Geochang-type Disaster Relief Fund" of 100,000 KRW per person to all residents from the 8th to April 30th to stabilize the lives of residents struggling due to the 3rd wave of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) and to revitalize the local economy.
To distribute the disaster relief fund, the county has formed a separate TF team and will operate a 5-day rotation system based on the last digit of the head of household’s birth year during the intensive application period until the 19th. They will also accept visiting applications tailored to the circumstances of each town and township.
The recipients are residents who have an address in the county from February 3rd of this year until the application date. If the head of household brings their ID card, or a household member aged 19 or older brings their own ID and the head of household’s ID to apply in person at the resident registration office of their town or township, they can receive the prepaid debit card called the "Geochang Love Card," which can be used within Geochang-gun until the end of this year. However, it cannot be used for entertainment and gambling businesses or online shopping.
Gu In-mo, the mayor of Geochang-gun, said, "Due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, damage such as reduced local consumption and decreased sales of self-employed businesses is gradually increasing," and added, "We hope that the universal payment of disaster relief funds to all residents will help stimulate consumption and revitalize the local economy."
Meanwhile, the small business disaster relief fund targets small business owners who have business registration in Geochang-gun and reside in the county. From February 4th to March 31st, support ranging from 500,000 to 2,000,000 KRW has been provided, and as of the 8th, 3.015 billion KRW has been paid to 4,409 locations.
