[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jun-kyung] Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education announced on the 9th that it has launched the ‘Jeonnam School Bbangbbang Site,’ which provides information on traffic accidents around schools.
This site is a program launched by the Jeonnam Education Research Information Institute, utilizing traffic accident information disclosed through the Public Data Portal to provide a history of accidents occurring within 1 km of schools in the form of map information (GIS) service.
In particular, users can check the year of the traffic accident, type of accident, and location information, which is expected to help improve traffic safety around schools during commuting times.
The information provided includes ▲areas with frequent bicycle accidents ▲areas with frequent pedestrian child accidents ▲areas with frequent child accidents within school zones ▲areas with frequent pedestrian jaywalking accidents ▲areas with frequent two-wheeled vehicle accidents, among others.
Jung Mi-ra, Director of the Safety and Welfare Division, said, “By using this service, it is easy to identify school routes with a high risk of accidents and manage them intensively. We will guide active use of this service for selecting locations for parent traffic volunteer activities and for traffic accident prevention education.”
Meanwhile, the Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education plans to analyze various big data in the education field in the future to fulfill the rights of students and parents to know and to reduce the workload of faculty and staff.
