Namwon City and Korea Railroad Jeonbuk Headquarters Sign Business Agreement to Revitalize Railroad Tourism

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Namwon City, Jeonbuk (Mayor Lee Hwan-joo) announced on the 9th that it has signed a business agreement with the Korea Railroad Corporation Jeonbuk Headquarters (Head Chakyungsoo) to revitalize railway tourism and create new tourism demand.

This agreement was made to operate the train product "Take the train and visit Namwon," a nearby and familiar travel destination, in accordance with the post-COVID travel trend of "contactless, small-scale, and free travel." The city plans to promote various seasonal and themed tour products in collaboration with KORAIL until November.

In particular, through this agreement, the two organizations plan to utilize their infrastructure to expand railway-linked tourism products, use tourist taxis connected to tourist sites, and promote railway products and marketing suitable for small-scale individual and family travelers seeking small trips, autonomous travel, and short-distance travel changed by COVID-19.

A Namwon city official said, "Starting from this agreement, we will newly promote transit and stay-type railway travel products linked with Namwon's attractive tourism resources, festivals, performances, and experiences," adding, "We hope Namwon will be re-illuminated as a tourist destination that people want to visit again as an everyday travel spot."
