Gwangyang City Launches Plum Sales Through 'Live Maehwa Market'


[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] Gwangyang City launched final promotions on the 9th ahead of the ‘Live Maehwa Market’ through the live commerce platform ‘Naver Shopping Live’.


The city announced that on the 11th at around 2 PM, a ‘Live Maehwa Market’ will be held at Maehwa Village, selling processed plum products via real-time live broadcast.


This live market, showcasing various processed plum products such as plum syrup and pickled plums, was organized to support income preservation for plum farmers who have been distressed due to the cancellation of the Maehwa Festival.


To watch and purchase from the ‘Live Maehwa Market,’ viewers need to access ‘Naver Shopping Live’ and search for ‘Namdo Jangteo’.


Customers who purchase through the broadcast will receive various benefits including discount coupons, and surprise events are also being prepared.


In particular, famous YouTubers and comedians will appear to deliver lively product information in an entertaining way, providing enjoyment to viewers.


After the ‘Live Maehwa Market,’ the city plans to continue regular sales of processed plum products through ‘Namdo Jangteo,’ Jeollanam-do’s representative agricultural, fishery, and livestock shopping mall operated by the Jeollanam-do Agricultural Food Distribution Division.


Park Soon-gi, Director of the Tourism Division, said, “Since the Live Maehwa Market is conducted in an interactive communication format, it is expected to promptly resolve viewers’ questions, increase product awareness, and promote sales.”


He added, “Going forward, we will actively promote the taste and charm of Gwangyang through various platforms to achieve both tourism and economic revitalization in Gwangyang, shining day and night.”


Meanwhile, live commerce is a compound word of live streaming and e-commerce, a sales broadcast that directly communicates with consumers through real-time video, gaining attention as a non-face-to-face sales strategy.
