[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Daejeon City is recruiting companies to move into the Startup Park.
The city announced on the 9th that it is recruiting companies to occupy 9 rooms within the Startup Park (D3) until the 19th.
The recruitment targets are promising startup companies discovered and nurtured by private operators such as venture capital firms and accelerators, as well as technology-based startup companies. The criteria for startups are companies established less than 6 years ago or prospective entrepreneurs, and companies from other regions can also apply on the condition of relocating their headquarters.
Selected companies can stay for up to 3 years and will receive support for capacity-building programs such as investment attraction, mentoring, and networking, as well as commercialization funds for prototype production, product improvement, and marketing support.
For more detailed information about moving in, please check the website of the Daejeon Center for Creative Economy & Innovation, the project executing organization. After receiving applications, the city plans to finalize the resident companies through eligibility screening (document review) and presentation evaluation by a selection evaluation committee composed of experts.
Meanwhile, since 2019, the city has invested a total of 4.7 billion KRW (2.5 billion KRW from the national government and 2.2 billion KRW from the city) to build the Startup Park. The Startup Park consists of three buildings (D1~D3) with 26 startup company spaces, 6 meeting rooms, and exchange spaces.
Previously, the D1 and D2 buildings were occupied by private operators and 10 startup companies as of July last year, achieving 1.3 billion KRW in investment attraction through investment consulting and commercialization fund support, as well as creating over 40 new jobs.
Ko Hyun-deok, Director of the City’s Job Economy Bureau, said, “We will spare no support to ensure that Startup Park establishes itself as an innovative startup space and continuously supplies quality jobs to future generations.”
