On the 9th, Yongin Light Rail Transit released a statement saying, "We sincerely apologize to those who were injured, those who experienced inconvenience, and all citizens who are concerned," and promised, "We will do our best to resolve the issues with the safety doors so that citizens can use the light rail transit with peace of mind."
Since the platform screen doors began operation on the 18th of last month, there have been 37 malfunctions, including door opening and failure to open, resulting in injuries to five passengers.
After the safety door accidents, Yongin Light Rail Transit, the main operator, convened a special countermeasure meeting with the operator Neotrans Co., Ltd., the construction company STN Co., Ltd., and the supervising authority Yongin City to completely resolve the platform screen door malfunctions and has been working on resolving the issues.
A representative of Yongin Light Rail Transit stated, "We will continue to carry out improvement work on platform screen door malfunctions so that citizens can use the light rail transit with confidence."
