Increase of 3 Billion Won Compared to 15 Billion Last Year ... Applications Accepted Until the End of April

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] Daegu City announced on the 9th that it will expand the resident participation budget projects to a scale of 18 billion KRW next year and will solicit project proposals until April 30.
The resident participation budget project is a system where citizens directly participate in the budget operation process. Citizens participate in the entire process from proposal to review and selection for all areas of city administration, including projects that resolve inconveniences in daily life and improve the quality of life for citizens.
This year, the resident participation budget has been expanded to 18 billion KRW, an increase of 3 billion KRW compared to last year's 15 billion KRW. To discover various youth support projects, 1 billion KRW has been newly allocated to youth participation projects, and 2 billion KRW has been added to the eup/myeon/dong participation projects, making a total of 4 billion KRW allocated.
The resident participation budget project fields to be included in the 2022 budget are ▲City Administration Participation Type (9 billion KRW) ▲Youth Participation Type (1 billion KRW) ▲District/County Participation Type (4 billion KRW) ▲Eup/Myeon/Dong Participation Type (4 billion KRW).
Daegu City has contributed to creating a safe urban environment by preventing crime and fire through installing crime prevention CCTV in crime-vulnerable areas and visible fire extinguishers in alleyways via the resident participation budget.
Additionally, various projects have been promoted to enhance citizens' convenience, such as installing parking consideration notification boards in front of homes, creating stories alongside railroad tracks, and improving the environment of stairs at the entrance of Gosan-gol. As a result of these efforts, Daegu City was selected as the best institution for two consecutive years in the resident participation budget operation performance evaluation conducted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
Citizens who wish to propose projects can apply through the Daegu City resident participation budget website for 52 days from the 10th to April 30. Daegu City will finalize the resident participation budget projects through resident voting in August and approval and resolution at the general meeting, based on the proposals submitted after deliberation and review by the resident participation budget committee.
Kim Jeong-gi, Director of Planning and Coordination Office of Daegu City, said, "This year, we plan to focus on expanding the base of resident participation and discovering excellent projects," and added, "We ask for your interest and participation so that practical resident autonomy that solves local problems by themselves can be realized."
