[Asia Economy Reporter Hyungsoo Park] Research Alom analyzed on the 9th that YBMnet will secure growth momentum by entering the advanced education industry utilizing virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR), in addition to stable online lecture sales. The appropriate stock price was suggested as 10,500 KRW.
YBMnet is the market leader in the online language education sector. It operates various businesses such as English kindergartens, certification exam registration agency, and online content production. In 2019, YBMnet launched the smart English word card Phonics Pop incorporating AR technology in collaboration with the digital education content startup Playcurio. It leads edutech by adopting a wide range of teaching methods, including using VR in some native speaker online remote classes for group lessons, one-on-one sentence reading games, and problem-solving.
Choi Seonghwan, Senior Researcher at Research Alom, explained, "We expect entry into the advanced education market using content such as AR wordbooks, VR-based discussion and game classes, and the English reading program Reading Farm," adding, "Interest in education using the metaverse is growing beyond non-face-to-face remote education."
He continued, "Recently, due to the impact of COVID-19, remote classes for elementary, middle, and high schools and telecommuting have expanded, integrating information and communication technologies such as media VR, AR, and 3D into edutech education," and added, "the U.S. data research company Holon IQ predicted that the global edutech market will grow to 342 billion USD by 2025."
Researcher Choi introduced YBM English Village and YBM Readers at the London Education Technology Expo, which showcases various advanced educational technologies, and expressed expectations that "based on diverse content and educational programs, YBMnet will enter the advanced education industry and play a pivotal role in the education sector in the upcoming metaverse era."
Researcher Choi emphasized, “We focus on the YBM Group, which has an English education platform for all ages from infants to adults in an era where English is essential,” and added, “In particular, attention should be paid to YBMnet, which is responsible for e-learning and online content production within the YBM Group.”
