[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Daejeon City has completed the installation of comprehensive home care centers in Seo-gu and Yuseong-gu and has begun full-scale operations.
According to the city on the 9th, the comprehensive home care centers operate as key integrated care institutions that provide integrated home care services to vulnerable groups such as the elderly and disabled living in the area.
The comprehensive home care centers, which opened for the first time in Seo-gu and Yuseong-gu, are installed and operated by the City Social Service Agency with full national government funding. Previously, in December last year, the City Social Service Agency completed recruitment (21 people for 2 locations), installation notifications, and designation as long-term care institutions.
The City Social Service Agency plans to additionally install one comprehensive home care center in Jung-gu this year and expand to a total of eight centers across five districts by 2024.
Based on citizens' welfare needs and by reviewing the operational status of private institutions, the scope of related services such as customized elderly care services, disability activity assistance, and maternal and newborn projects will be gradually expanded.
Along with the expansion of comprehensive home care centers, the workforce providing care is also expected to increase. The City Social Service Agency plans to increase the workforce to a total of 320 by 2024 while creating quality jobs through improved treatment such as guaranteed retirement age.
The City Social Service Agency was established by Daejeon City’s endowment and converted from the Daejeon Welfare Foundation on November 30 last year. It undertakes tasks such as operating national and public facilities, installing and operating comprehensive home care centers, supporting private service providers, and conducting social service policy research.
Mayor Heo Tae-jung of Daejeon said, “With the full-scale operation of the comprehensive home care centers, we will strengthen the public nature of home care services and strive to provide efficient and integrated services to vulnerable groups. Furthermore, through cooperation with the City Social Service Agency, we will create a ‘Happy Daejeon’ and a ‘Future of Care’ that all citizens trust and are satisfied with.”
