Conveying the Importance of Energy and Climate Change Response to Adolescents and University Students
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] LG Chem is hosting a talk concert as part of its ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management to address environmental issues and emphasize the importance of energy and climate change response.
LG Chem announced that, together with organizations such as Kia Hope, it will hold the 'Green Festival' online on the 13th from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., featuring relay lectures by five star instructors.
The Green Festival is an event held online with various lectures by ESG experts as part of LG Chem’s 'Like Green' campaign, which aims to nurture youth and university students as global leaders in the environmental field.
The first event will feature five participants: Lee Jung-mo, Director of the National Gwacheon Science Museum; Jang Yi-kwon, Professor of Life Sciences at Ewha Womans University; broadcaster Tyler Rasch; Kim Sang-wook, Professor of Physics at Kyung Hee University; and An Sung-jin, EBSi Earth Science instructor.
The first lecturer, Director Lee Jung-mo, will explain the dangers of climate change under the theme "Surviving the Sixth Mass Extinction," emphasizing that humanity must concentrate all technological capabilities to survive in nature.
Professor Jang Yi-kwon will introduce the attitude of understanding and responding to signals from nature under the theme "Our Future as Told by the Spring Frog." The lecture covers how climate change disrupts frogs' survival and reproduction, ultimately affecting humanity.
Broadcaster Tyler Rasch will guide easy-to-practice daily methods for environmental protection, such as reducing meat consumption, under the theme "Climate Crisis, Crisis of Life and People." As a Greenfluencer, Tyler serves as an ambassador for the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), raising awareness about the seriousness of environmental issues.
Professor Kim Sang-wook will lecture on "What Is the Problem with Energy Issues?" discussing future societal problems caused by energy shortages, while instructor An Sung-jin will explore the causes and solutions of global warming under the theme "Various Aspects of Global Warming."
The Green Festival will include Q&A sessions after each lecture with university education mentors participating as panelists. Anyone can freely watch the event through the campaign’s homepage and YouTube channel.
Park Joon-sung, Executive Vice President of External Cooperation at LG Chem, said, "This event was prepared to consider global environmental issues from the perspectives of youth and the general public and to explore solutions together." He added, "We will continue to carry out various corporate-level activities in the ESG field, including solving environmental problems."
