[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyewon] Samsung Electronics launched a new BESPOKE refrigerator on the 9th that allows consumers to choose from 360 colors as they desire.
This product is a 4-door refrigerator introduced at the 'BESPOKE Home Media Day' on the same day, featuring a flat and slim design and a water purifier built into the door, combining both design and practicality.
Marking its third year since launch, the BESPOKE refrigerator has significantly expanded the available color options. First, it offers a total of 22 types of panels as basic options, including this year's theme colors 'Glam Sun Yellow' and 'Cota Greenery.'
If consumers want a 'custom color' beyond the 22 panel options, they can specify and order a desired color from the 'Prism Color' palette consisting of 360 colors. The Prism Color was developed by Samsung Electronics with reference to trend colors from Benjamin Moore, a global premium paint company.
To quickly supply products in various colors, Samsung Electronics developed the 'Prism 360 Glass Coloring' method. By combining traditional printing methods with high-resolution digital printing technology, it offers excellent color reproduction and easy color expansion. Since the basic colors are combined digitally without the need for pre-mixing ink, production speed is fast, enabling rapid supply of various customized panels.
The new 4-door BESPOKE refrigerator is praised for capturing both practicality and design by installing the water purifier inside the door. Inside the 'Beverage Center,' where the water purifier is located, there is an 'Auto-fill Water Purifier' that automatically fills a 1.4ℓ water tank and a separate 'Hidden Dispenser' for drinking small amounts of water immediately, allowing use according to purpose. The spout cork of the Hidden Dispenser can be easily detached for cleaning, and premium stainless steel material, which does not rust, is applied for hygienic management.
This water purifier collaborates with the World Health Organization (WHO) and is officially approved as a drinking water and water purifier testing institution by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) through NSF (National Sanitation Foundation) International in the U.S. It has been certified for safety against a total of 73 items, including heavy metals (lead, arsenic, chromium, mercury), bisphenol A, and perfluorinated compounds (PFOA, PFOS). This is the highest number of certified items among water purifiers installed in refrigerators manufactured domestically. In particular, the core component of the water purifier, the 4-stage filter, has obtained the highest number of performance certifications for safety among domestic direct water purifier manufacturers.
The refrigerator's interior has also been improved in function and design. The back of the product applies a flat design instead of the previous contoured design, expanding the internal space, and uses black glass material that looks wider and cooler, adding visual depth.
Additionally, a 'Multi-Pantry' is installed in the refrigerator compartment, allowing users to select from six modes tailored to individual dietary patterns: red wine, white wine, tropical fruit, grains, fruits & vegetables, and meat & fish. The Multi-Pantry function was applied to Samsung's ultra-premium refrigerator, the Chef Collection, and is applied for the first time in this year's BESPOKE 4-door refrigerator. Furthermore, the 'Custom Storage Room,' which can be customized according to ingredients such as refrigeration, freezing, and kimchi, has been upgraded to a total of seven modes with the addition of the 'White Wine & Beer' mode.
With increasing interest in hygiene, the handle parts touched by hands are made of antibacterial material that removes 99.9% of Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli.
The retail price of the new BESPOKE 4-door refrigerator ranges from 2.89 million KRW to 4.69 million KRW, depending on functions, capacity, and door panel specifications.
