Methamphetamine Imported and Sold from Southeast Asia Including Cambodia
Purity Increased by Intermediate Processing...700g Seized On Site
[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] The police have arrested drug dealers and their associates who manufactured and distributed drugs domestically.
On the 8th, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's Narcotics Crime Investigation Unit announced that they recently arrested about 40 members of a group, including Mr. A in his 50s, on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act.
Mr. A and his group are suspected of importing methamphetamine from Southeast Asia, including Cambodia, and selling it to individuals domestically. It was revealed that they processed the drugs through intermediate manufacturing steps to increase purity.
The police tracked them for six months and apprehended Mr. A last month at an officetel in Yangcheon-gu, Seoul. Approximately 700g of methamphetamine was seized at the scene, enough for 23,000 simultaneous doses, with a transaction value reaching 500 million KRW.
The police are continuing their investigation to locate the methamphetamine that was not seized and other members involved in the crime.
